The East Kent Mavericks tamed the London Renegades with a 34 to 6 win

3pm saw the Mavericks youth team face off against the South London Renegades in what can best be described as an irresistible force meets immovable object! The Renegades team were huge and most of the Mavericks players assumed they were the adult team coaches or players that had come to watch until they started to warm up!
Speed, skill and coaching however quickly overcame size and aggression with the Mavericks scoring quickly curtesey of some great running by Conan Osborne and a touch down pass from Quarterback Gabe Harrison to Dan Burke, with the coversion by Will Morrish, Harry Issac followed on with a great running touchdown taking the score to 14-0 . The Renegades #24 however, resonded by running in a tochdown finishing the score at 14-6 to the Mavericks at half time.
The Mavericks came out fired up in the 2nd half with a flurry of quick passing and running scores, Will Morrish made a great screen pass and finishing off with a 30 yard touchdown. Will also converted the kick to take the score to 28-6. Then smiling Dan Burke completed his 2nd catch and touchdown of the day with Richard Bowen concluded the scoring powering over the line for his first touchdown.
The final nail in the coffin came towards the end when Clayton Bones caught an interception for a 15 yard run, the final score finished up as a convincing 34-6 victory!
Great credit was given by the coaches to the 'O' line and 'D' Line for there outstanding performance against a team that was twice the size . The MVP could of been given to a lot of players that day, but only two can be given, the 1st went to runningback Harry Issac for his incredible touchdown run and the 2nd went to defence Lineman Joe Joyce who led the power force of the 'D' line.
